After a period of growing repression, thousands of Falun Gong practitioners went to Beijing to appeal for the right to freely practice their belief. Hearing news of the peaceful appeal and seeing the governments mistreatment of Falun Gong practitioners prompted Yin Liping to take a closer look at the practice. After reading Zhuan Falun, the main book of Falun Gong, she concluded that the government had made a mistake. Despite the ensuing crackdown, she began to practice Falun Gong herself and went to appeal herself.
