A Chinese robot suffered another public setback on October 22. At the 2026 World Physical AI Conference & Unitree Partner Ecosystem Summit in Hangzhou, Zhejiang, the host announced, “It’s time to show what this thing can really do.” A white humanoid robot took a short running start, leaped into the air, and delivered a spinning kick. But one leg broke off at the knee and flew away. The robot then crashed onto the black carpet, missing a leg.
