On the morning of July 17 at 9:07 a.m., a massive landslide struck Hanjiā Subdistrict in Chongqing. Loud rumbling sounds and clouds of dust filled the air. Tens of thousands of cubic meters of rocks and soil broke loose from the steep mountainside. They crashed downward and quickly covered the streets, vehicles, pedestrians, and rows of homes below.
