A recent showdown between traditional taxi drivers and ride-hailing platforms in Xianyang, Shaanxi Province, has drawn national attention. Since June 21, local taxi drivers have been seen intercepting and surrounding ride-share cars at various locations throughout the city. These drivers actively blocked ride-share vehicles from picking up passengers—at times using rows of taxis to sandwich them in and force them to stop—demanding that passengers exit the vehicle on the spot.
