Starbucks China Has Had Enough! Older Women Sit Without Spending—Now Seats Get Locked
.
Seats at Starbucks have been locked up. A social media user in Sichuan posted a video showing tables and chairs chained together outside a nearby store. A sign on a table read, “For paying customers only.” Staff said older visitors often occupied seats for long periods. Asking them to leave was difficult and could lead to arguments with customers, so the store locked the furniture. Staff said they would unlock it immediately for anyone making a purchase.
