On July 1, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning shared a video on social media showing a water-spray system at a residential complex in Yuncheng, Shanxi Province. Several apartment buildings sprayed water at the same time, creating a mist that drifted down from the rooftops. Chinese media later called it “Chinese cooling wisdom” that was both useful and visually appealing. However, some people questioned whether such an expensive system could truly lower temperatures or was simply designed to create an attractive “rooftop rain” effect.
