A Single Storm Shatters China’s Tofu-Dreg Buildings: No Concrete, No Rebar, Only Garbage Inside

On July 13, heavy rainfall in Shenyang caused part of a wall in the underground parking garage of the Rongsheng Heyue Mingdi residential complex to collapse, leaving a large hole in the middle. What shocked residents was that the inside of the wall was not reinforced concrete or proper fill material, but large amounts of construction and household waste mixed with plastic bags, discarded items, and bricks. Some of the waste was even washed onto the ground by the rainwater.
