After Washington offered to help China with the ongoing COVID outbreak, Beijing declined and said that the CPC China has an “institutional advantage” in fighting COVID. China’s handling of the COVID crisis is similar to the “great leap forward” movement. The CCP’s “institutional advantage” paralyzed its crisis management system then and still does. It caused a disastrous dam collapse 47 years ago and is still wreaking havoc today. Mao Zedong and Deng Xiaoping were responsible then; and Xi Jinping is responsible now.
