On October 11, Chinese surveillance giant Hikvision became a trending topic on Weibo after reports surfaced about large-scale layoffs within the company. Employees revealed that Hikvision is undergoing a major organizational restructuring, reducing its 32 research and development centers to just 12. According to an employee, "Only a few core areas will remain, with the rest being phased out, potentially affecting more than a thousand employees".
