Americans are increasingly aware of the privacy the security risk associated with TikTok. Some call it “digital fentanyl.” But American politicians, the public, and the media are divided over if TikTok should be banned in the United States. The CCP, however, has a grand plan for TikTok. It’s being used as a digital weapon in a cognitive war against Taiwan. Taiwanese lawmakers are aware of the security risks but don’t have a good solution. If the United States is determined to defend Taiwan against the CCP, it should take the risks of TikTok seriously.
