Coptis Chinensis has the functions of purging internal heat, detoxifying, and killing germs, and is most effective in treating diseases such as various kinds of sepsis and dysentery caused by internal heat and toxins. Scutellaria baicalensis has the functions of clearing away internal heat, detoxifying, stopping bleeding, and preventing miscarriage, and is mainly used for febrile diseases, upper respiratory tract infection, lung-heat cough, damp-heat jaundice, pneumonia, dysentery, hemoptysis, red eyes, fetal movement, and hypertension embolism. Huang Lian Jie Du Decoction Can Treat Allergic Dermatitis On Mar. 3, 2022, Meijo University in Japan published the results of a study that proved Huang Lian Jie Du decoction can treat allergic dermatitis. The research results were published in the “86th Scientific Congress of Traditional Chinese Medicine” in Japan. The study experiment was performed on mice artificially induced with skin allergies and then observed the therapeutic effect of Huang Lian Jie Du decoction on them. One-tenth the human oral dose was fed to the mice once a day when the swelling (allergic inflammation) of their pinnae was at its peak. The results showed that the swelling of the mouse auricle was suppressed. The Huang Lian Jie Du decoction had the effect of reducing skin allergy. The T cells, the usual accelerators of allergic reactions, were inhibited from multiplying freely by the decoction doses. According to the researchers, the essence of TCM is to strengthen the body against and eventually eliminate bad energy. TCM strives to support the good energy responsible for the vitality of the body and eliminate the bad energy that causes diseases.  If the positive energy level declines, illness can occur. In this respect,TCM is often called a “replenishing and purifying medicine,” as it replenishes positive energy and purifies negative energy. The concept of  “qi” in TCM originated from the discovery of the vital phenomena taking place within the human body by ancient Chinese wise men, who observed crucial life phenomena, such as the air movement during breathing in and out, and the heat that comes with sweat during perspiration. These observations lead to the discovery that the energy within the human body was extraordinarily strong and seemed to run continuously through a microscopic substance they named qi, one of the basic components that support and maintain the body’s activities. The continuous circulation of qi promotes and regulates metabolism and maintains the various processes of the body. If one’s qi stops circulating, life will end. He Xia, a traditional Chinese medicine practitioner in Japan, told The Epoch Times that Huang Lian Jie Du decoction is a branded prescription for “clearing away internal heat and detoxifying,” and that it is applicable to all people with normal health.  However, for certain groups, such as pregnant women, young babies, breastfeeders, or the frail, it is always a good practice to consult a Chinese medicine practitioner to determine if taking the decoction is suitable.
