Joe Biden Genuflects to Transgender Activists

Commentary President Joe Biden recently declared that he wants to make it illegal to ban transgender athletes competing in Title IX college sports. Biden and many Democrats believe that this proposal would provide fairness to LGBT athletes. However, several female athletes have publicly raised red flags and stated that this move could essentially demolish women’s collegiate sports across the nation. It could also potentially adversely affect women’s professional sports. Title IX was codified in 1972 during Pres. Nixon’s tenure and has undergone evolutionary changes over the past fifty years. It was initiated so that female athletes could compete in university athletics and receive support from athletic conferences, the NCAA, and higher education. The impact of this Act trickled down to the public schools and encouraged female athletes to pursue several different sports. Athletes and coaches have worked hard to ensure that girls athletics are recognized as legitimate and that interscholastic competition is healthy for the body, mind, and spirit. Now all of a sudden, Biden and the transgender industrial complex could erode all of the gains made in women’s sports over many decades. Where are the feminist voices that claim to endorse equal rights for women? In recent years, there have been a number of instances where male athletes who identify as female have upended the level playing field of competition. A well-known example of this was former University of Pennsylvania swimmer Lia Thomas, who competed on the women’s team although he was a biological male. He also used the girls locker room to change. He won several races even though the female swimmers complained about this injustice. The university did nothing about this blatant unfairness that was humiliating to the Penn female swimmers. Scores of female athletes suffered the consequences with missed opportunities and stolen swim meets. The incident likely turned many female athletes against sports. Similar to Joe Biden’s prior woke narratives regarding border security, climate change, crime, economics, pandemic policies, reparations, and student loan cancellation, his latest proposal is way out in left field and comes down on the wrong side of history. (John Fredricks/The Epoch Times) However, one can count on Gavin Newsom to embrace such a harebrained policy that defies moral and natural law. He would attempt to coerce it on the public schools and universities, thus turning sports and Title IX into a joke rather than a fair enterprise. Biological males should compete against other males, just as biological females should practice their skills against other females. That is the definition of fairness. If the trans community desires fairness in athletics, let them compete against one another. Stop demanding extra rights that no one else has. The trans community could also begin to reflect on what God and nature has gifted to them. No matter how hard trans folks attempt to transition their gender through drugs, surgery, or therapy, they will always remain what they were blessed with at birth. Everyone struggles to varying degrees during the maturation process, but tampering with nature could be a huge blunder that comes back to haunt them with anguish in the long-term.
