In Indonesia, local garment manufacturers, including home-based workers and factories, have sought government assistance as their market share is taken by cheap Chinese clothing and textiles. According to the Nusantara Trade Union Confederation, at least 12 textile factories have closed between January and July 2024, resulting in over 12,000 workers losing their jobs.
