The Y-9Z flew in from the East China Sea, arriving around 10:40 a.m. near the Danjo Islands, located 150 kilometers southwest of Nagasaki. It circled southeast of the islands before entering their airspace for about two minutes at 11:30 a.m. Afterward, the aircraft continued to circle just outside the airspace until it finally returned to China at 1:15 p.m.
