The COVID-19 outbreak in mainland China continues to spread, despite the CCP using the world's most extreme zero-Covid policy to control the spread of the virus. 31 of China's 34 provincial-level administrative regions have now seen cases of infection. This is the most widespread round of outbreaks since February 2021, when the Ministry of Health began notifying outbreaks on a daily basis.

With this came a nationwide closure and control. As of 6 p.m. on Sept. 2, there were 1,780 high-risk zones and 1,407 medium-risk zones across the country. High-risk areas mean that residents cannot leave their homes; medium-risk means not leaving the neighborhood. This is basically martial law in disguise. 8 cities with population over 10 million, including Shenzhen, Chengdu, Chongqing, Tianjin and Wuhan collectively entered partial to complete closure status.
